Need to get myself to do it though.<p></p><p></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVUv4PLmAMiwCSDLJJ2MKRE6OvoJxpdM7ytVMFT6J1O85REZAt7ZK3Ukr1xO91g4haTNMaC_gzhJ7y3pBCTXuisy6sYAdId0HYERyJPxAmf82q_TNPU4JhvTJNs_8B3tVL8WITJG2CmaRD-Oqx_b70fq-Mb16BQLDRkmoNCKZfOAe6lIOvYWD5fQYrl_U/s2651/33638C43-36BD-4710-A195-15CD895B6096.JPG" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1590" data-original-width="2651" height="192" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVUv4PLmAMiwCSDLJJ2MKRE6OvoJxpdM7ytVMFT6J1O85REZAt7ZK3Ukr1xO91g4haTNMaC_gzhJ7y3pBCTXuisy6sYAdId0HYERyJPxAmf82q_TNPU4JhvTJNs_8B3tVL8WITJG2CmaRD-Oqx_b70fq-Mb16BQLDRkmoNCKZfOAe6lIOvYWD5fQYrl_U/s320/33638C43-36BD-4710-A195-15CD895B6096.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Me and Mr Idman have been down in the Red Room a couple of rounds working with drums and we’ve recorded a handful of songs that I’m going to start working on any day now. As always I have a lot of songs that I’m working with, just how I like it it and it suits my restless mind, but the downside is that I at some point I have to finish some of it too. Of all the material I’m working on in the studio I probably should’ve released some a long time ago, but I simply haven’t got myself to the point of finishing anything yet.<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinhNm0_82V8lTcfpwy8x49VrL8D7GAWbPjsx1H7XUje3fYmnkIMXPFEDrU9fhFYgM-Wf-j5NI0I4jbUZFtPkOi_c4W5fC6TuSITJV5cw93OSygIH9gSoUgECDmEFa6C22JaI-_JHjwaf9cbko5ri9COplJO5UsO_Ac8LQLhRREF0MlhLDLLyM1Zk_O8dE/s3773/Foto%202023-11-04%2021%2030%2009.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3773" data-original-width="2611" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinhNm0_82V8lTcfpwy8x49VrL8D7GAWbPjsx1H7XUje3fYmnkIMXPFEDrU9fhFYgM-Wf-j5NI0I4jbUZFtPkOi_c4W5fC6TuSITJV5cw93OSygIH9gSoUgECDmEFa6C22JaI-_JHjwaf9cbko5ri9COplJO5UsO_Ac8LQLhRREF0MlhLDLLyM1Zk_O8dE/w138-h200/Foto%202023-11-04%2021%2030%2009.jpg" width="138" /></a></div><div><br /></div>Though I’m constantly working on a full length album, or actually more than one, it's taking, and I'm letting it, take its time to get finished but.there will be a couple singles/EPs out next year, just as planned yet a bit delayed.<div><br /></div><div>We’ve been rehearsing quite frequently with my live powertrio the last months and we’ve had a couple of totally awesome gigs, loads of fun and the live band feels pretty much together by now, and yeah, we’re having a great time so hopefully we’ll manage to schedule some more live dates soon. Summer is behind us, (almost at least, I’m still hanging on to it a bit) and I’ve been swamped with work on my house the whole summer and haven’t practically been working with music at all. Aside from writing a couple of new tunes and hanging in the Bunker rehearsing with the boys there hasn’t been that much action in that area. Apart from some live shows the new plan (I don’t even remember the old plan) now is to finish the recording of a couple of singles/EP’s of songs that we actually are playing live, that are in the PM Saari Band live set. The thing is that the problem I had the first months of this year gradually disappeared and it’s pretty much ok now, but then something of a normal flu hit me and my voice was torn down again for over a month. But yeah, I believe I’m very close to where I was before all this. It'll be out on <b>Friday, April 21st </b>and it’s a single featuring the two Inagone songs “Stronger” and “Dried” that were recorded back in 2008 and that I’ve now compiled, edited and mixed. <div><br /></div><div>The music and lyrics are written by me and it’s performed by Inagone which means Per Linzander on vocals, Vesa Kallio on drums, Andreas Mallander on fretless bass and me on guitars and backing vocals. I really like the performance of this recording, there’s some pretty cool things happening there, pretty good jams and chops.<p>These two songs are among my all time favorites and I find them way too good to be left unreleased. I think the song “Dried” in particular is one of the best songs I’ve ever written and the funny thing is that it’s about running dry on ideas as a writer, creator or an artist and the fact is that I’ve never actually experienced that myself, never faced that problem, rather the opposite, always coming up with way too many ideas. So it’s imaginarily how I believe it would feel, how the dryness drains your energy. It’s pretty ironic that thinking and writing about this lead me to writing one of the best songs I’ve ever written. I think we might even try to put it into the PM Saari Band live set now when we'll get out in 2023.</p><p>Below you'll find some direct links to the first Inagone EP "Where It Begins" but you'll find it at all the digital music providers.</p><p>Enjoy.<br />/ PM</p><p><br /><iframe allow="autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="152" loading="lazy" src="https://open.spotify.com/embed/album/697stVwCDzf0RcgSBTAPXF?utm_source=generator" style="border-radius: 12px;" width="100%"></iframe></p><div><br /></div><iframe allow="autoplay *; encrypted-media *; fullscreen *; clipboard-write" frameborder="0" height="340" sandbox="allow-forms allow-popups allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-storage-access-by-user-activation allow-top-navigation-by-user-activation" src="https://embed.music.apple.com/se/album/where-it-begins-ep/1544558338" style="border-radius: 10px; max-width: 660px; overflow: hidden; width: 100%;"></iframe></div><div><br /></div><div><p><iframe allow="encrypted-media; clipboard-write" allowtransparency="true" frameborder="0" height="170" src="https://widget.deezer.com/widget/dark/album/192717502" title="deezer-widget" width="100%"></iframe></p></div><div><br /></div></div>PM Saarihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03703360934622421909noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1995642556554531862.post-34426748734462257792023-03-31T21:41:00.034+02:002023-09-22T09:12:21.843+02:00Out of voice… and motivation<div><br /></div><div>In the beginning of this year something happened to my voice, when we were supposed to start rehearsing with the PM Saari Band after Christmas/new years break I discovered that about half an octave of my voice didn’t work, like at all. Just couldn't get this group of tones from my higher register out and of course it was the tones that I use the most. I tried various solutions to get it into action but realised after a month that this ain’t going to get solved anyway soon. We had some gig proposals but had to turn them down and we were also supposed to start rehearsing with Järntrean as well but we had to call that off.</div><div><table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7x67FUlE8tVFA-p6m0hDnuCb0FlzNLNmoIg6xp1vpbmUc48jykyxRsMEQI79ITPkbSZHcNQJCcHxIuhuNXg_y-eheR3YdHuJP24BncUOgqELSsRvIjaNZebtFbD_9FCd0k-gHgtd36D2CuKXQc68zGhXXgXkTnaEcMxagJpI1ZnTLuXCcnwHQFBpL/s3625/9018D8C2-448D-4FE9-AA6A-74211BA99CD4.JPG" style="clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2924" data-original-width="3625" height="257" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7x67FUlE8tVFA-p6m0hDnuCb0FlzNLNmoIg6xp1vpbmUc48jykyxRsMEQI79ITPkbSZHcNQJCcHxIuhuNXg_y-eheR3YdHuJP24BncUOgqELSsRvIjaNZebtFbD_9FCd0k-gHgtd36D2CuKXQc68zGhXXgXkTnaEcMxagJpI1ZnTLuXCcnwHQFBpL/w320-h257/9018D8C2-448D-4FE9-AA6A-74211BA99CD4.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">PM Saari Band (me, Moey and Pata) at rehearsals<br />at our Beyond Dimensions Bunker.<br /></td></tr></tbody></table><br /></div><div>Now it seems to be slowly getting back to normal, slowly. I’m definitely not able to do the Paul DiAnno stuff that Järntrean demands yet so that’s put on hold for a while, but when it comes to my own stuff it’s starting to work little by little, and with my own material I feel I can move a few vocal lines into another register in case some of the problem remains for longer. It’s two songs that were recorded more or less live at Studio A6sound in Stockholm during the pandemic lockdowns, with additional tracking at my Beyond Dimensions Studio. It’s the first release featuring a new heavier direction in which we’ll be going live with the PM Saari Band.</div><div><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimu3N3F7TcS3ieQR3yL0eP18qP7tkSXAVUGGxb97hxQmfB4HyhuQqwiF63AbNYYQNr55usA5UPnQzpTxWXC2eATL1vc16P-XGJna7E9LQDnmnyTPs1MY8EG6GM1pMrDctGx7OOeJBUHOaHTPRldF_U9yVBQNJ4IzGjtPaeaIUPNmH2h3NzHDIbUKQC/s2000/PM%20Saari%20-%20Lockdown%20Sessions%20Front%201%20forweb.jpg" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2000" data-original-width="2000" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimu3N3F7TcS3ieQR3yL0eP18qP7tkSXAVUGGxb97hxQmfB4HyhuQqwiF63AbNYYQNr55usA5UPnQzpTxWXC2eATL1vc16P-XGJna7E9LQDnmnyTPs1MY8EG6GM1pMrDctGx7OOeJBUHOaHTPRldF_U9yVBQNJ4IzGjtPaeaIUPNmH2h3NzHDIbUKQC/s320/PM%20Saari%20-%20Lockdown%20Sessions%20Front%201%20forweb.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>It features two not that new songs, one of them is called “Where’s My Bones?” and has lived through many reincarnations through the years, in a number of bands like Inagone and B.L.O.W (I believe I wrote it originally for B.L.O.W). It’s all written by me and the cool thing is that through the 3-4 bands that’s been playing it live the arrangement and the structure of the song has remained pretty much, if not<i> exactly</i> the same, even though each band has arranged it from scratch at rehearsals - so I guess this must be the perfect arrangement for it. The other song is also written by me and has its history in the band Straight Eight Diablo (S8D).</div><div></div><div><br /></div><div>On this one I have Mr Patric Idman on the drums (who was with me in Straight Eight Diablo) and Andreas Mallander on fretless bass (who was with me in Inagone), so tying it all together here. The guitars and vocals are performed by me and it’s produced and mixed by me. The recording was engineered by Arvid and Felix at A6sound and additional recording by me and it was mastered through Abbey Road Red/CloudBounce. </div><div><br /></div><div>It sure was loads of fun in the studio doing it all the <i>old</i> (real?) way, but of course I’ve been running the <i>new</i> way for so long by now that it was inevitable to finish it up in that manner. When it comes to playing live I want to stick with the format of the three-piece band, or powertrio if you will, I want to keep the lineup uncomplicated, keep plenty of room for improvisation. Beside getting the chops and the grooves together, and me playing guitar and singing at the same time, there’s also some amount of work involved in rearranging the recorded material to work in a three-piece situation. Then put into the equation that time is a very exclusive thing in all of our lives, which is also one of the reasons I prefer going for as few personnel involved in the live band as is possibly possible (or very close to impossible).<div><br /></div><div><table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYY-w2dmWmM4ubw0XngUdS4wY2qtZ99EJQEhpRVDOT6BZhJ6tvZ5eOYFk9joXX9dxhPdrErRPrG7FHHM7BK6PgvGfo_LgHJ_Q1j-zwSUzCA8_UaRxXklZcsBqNwFheZOAqBNrU_A2E2ON9KfbJgNBmPWQRwnJEXF6Z8RhPDiQUt6d7xRY9Nd2FNK3x/s1193/moeyandpm2b.jpg" style="clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1193" data-original-width="401" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYY-w2dmWmM4ubw0XngUdS4wY2qtZ99EJQEhpRVDOT6BZhJ6tvZ5eOYFk9joXX9dxhPdrErRPrG7FHHM7BK6PgvGfo_LgHJ_Q1j-zwSUzCA8_UaRxXklZcsBqNwFheZOAqBNrU_A2E2ON9KfbJgNBmPWQRwnJEXF6Z8RhPDiQUt6d7xRY9Nd2FNK3x/s320/moeyandpm2b.jpg" width="108" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">PM and Moey back in<br />the Burnitude days.</td></tr></tbody></table></div><div>Then some news, some personnel changes, Andreas “Drake” Mallander has stepped away from the PM Saari Band (my live band), so he’s out and in is my way back bass compadre Mats “Moey” Öström adding new dimensions to the low end in our new heavier sound. We’ve rehearsed some and it all fits in very well and we’re all very excited and looking forward to bringing it all out live on stage in 2023. Mr Mallander and I will however continue to work together in other parts of my music projects and endeavours, as for instance Järntrean, with whom we’ll be out gigging again in 2023 after a two year hiatus.</div><div><br /></div><div>So there’s been some pushbacks in the Saari Camp, but it feels like we’re back in the saddle again after a little restart. We also missed the christmas train and the early release deadlines now before the holidays but the next release, the single “The Lockdown Sessions”, will be out in mid january 2023. It will be shortly followed by a single featuring two old Inagone songs that I’ve finished up and mixed, it will however be released as Inagone. The main one would be that we’re steering the live setlist into a heavier direction, it's been discussed and jammed and this is what we, my live band, feel feels right. I write different styles of music and my ambition is to record it all at some point but as things are now our ambition is to make the released material to go along, to be synchronised, with the material we play live, which obviously is the common way to go. So you can expect some heavier releases from me in the near future.</div></div><div><br /></div><div>I’ve also been thinking whether it would be better to release singles and EPs instead of full length albums in the future, just to get things finished and out, but I was born an album-person so the album format is deep rooted in me. Nevertheless things have to get finished and the work of making an album feels way, way heavier than dividing it into a couple of smaller releases, which would also be much more suited for the music scene 2022. Then I did a reality check and realised I’ve got 17 (!) songs, that will be divided into six singles and EPs, that I’m working on right now, simultaneously. Now taking that into the equation it shouldn't really be a problem for me to do a full length album after this. So that’s probably what we’ll start working on next after I've finished up some of these singles and EPs, regardless of what the market or anyone says, I mean I never cared to follow trends and markets anyway.</div><div><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEic9VkmmJSTfkZFmr6rMWNykX5U_vqIKvUSB436zL7e409OayiitUzPas4CLZe3JnurY_mzWE6Aib2TRtnF5k0z6j-uoq9bn4Nxv9VXVDVp9B8gg7-y_EN2HMMwdd3XDNxdTDQlAKLAFFk4BKyRcJmfCCAmRfFmrOuLR3ajHWFxlW6XQKQqU1AM-QHW/s2940/37B2D519-7421-4057-99ED-B4BAB53A0893.JPG" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2536" data-original-width="2940" height="276" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEic9VkmmJSTfkZFmr6rMWNykX5U_vqIKvUSB436zL7e409OayiitUzPas4CLZe3JnurY_mzWE6Aib2TRtnF5k0z6j-uoq9bn4Nxv9VXVDVp9B8gg7-y_EN2HMMwdd3XDNxdTDQlAKLAFFk4BKyRcJmfCCAmRfFmrOuLR3ajHWFxlW6XQKQqU1AM-QHW/s320/37B2D519-7421-4057-99ED-B4BAB53A0893.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Apart from these 17 songs I’m working on right now I have two full length albums in the pipes with all the drums recorded just waiting to get finished, all very strong and cool stuff but doesn’t fit the direction we’re heading for right now so they just have to be put on hold in favour of the material that we’ll be playing live. </div><div><br /></div><div>There are two two-song singles waiting to be mastered as we speak, one will be called “The Lockdown Sessions” which was recorded more or less live in the studio some while ago and the other is two songs from an old Inagone recording that I’ve brought back to life and mixed, that will be called “Dried” and will be release under the Inagone banner, so a new release shouldn’t be too far away in time. Then it might be that I'll manage to finish yet one more single at the end of 2022, or otherwise early next year and we are planning to start recording the new PM Saari full length album in the first half of 2023.</div><div><br /></div><div>Peace.</div><div>/ PM</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>PM Saarihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03703360934622421909noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1995642556554531862.post-49035337271448605532022-04-25T10:41:00.015+02:002022-04-25T20:21:37.150+02:00New EP “The Club Of Internal Admiration (A Slight Return)”<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbKFLPCGV_4PKKxeyjbDqKhaPuIzPZdjT_bzfdyBlpaLkceMnL8ohLQKHx49fkcJbliqBoRBMWIpqmgkKEIN9zHZ66zT4_DCfXUzrvYyNwzqWG9xo53EaE5ecaGxffSW3nXi2YrwtBTPBwg1VURPlTlb25VyJ7ZZJ0gZ5kK8MZzPn-F-sTkN55kuV3/s3000/PMSaariCIAFinal.jpg" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><br /><img alt="PM Saari “The Club Of Internal Admiration (A Slight Return)”" border="0" data-original-height="3000" data-original-width="3000" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbKFLPCGV_4PKKxeyjbDqKhaPuIzPZdjT_bzfdyBlpaLkceMnL8ohLQKHx49fkcJbliqBoRBMWIpqmgkKEIN9zHZ66zT4_DCfXUzrvYyNwzqWG9xo53EaE5ecaGxffSW3nXi2YrwtBTPBwg1VURPlTlb25VyJ7ZZJ0gZ5kK8MZzPn-F-sTkN55kuV3/w320-h320/PMSaariCIAFinal.jpg" title="PM Saari “The Club Of Internal Admiration (A Slight Return)”" width="320" /></a></div><br />I’m proud to officially announce that my new release called “The Club For Internal Admiration (A Slight Return)” will be out on Friday April 29th. It’s a four song EP with three originals that are more or less revisited material with origins in the past, hence the “(A Sight Return)” and the fourth song being my first ever recorded cover. The music style this time around is hard rock very heavily influenced by 1980's heavy metal, into which the cover song also fits in nicely.<p></p><p>The first two songs “1982” and “The Club For Internal Admiration” (yes I like to abbreviate it as “CIA”) are kicking, early 1980’s heavy metal rockers with some splashes of punk and plenty of attitude. Song three called “A U” is a melodic and maybe a bit more progressive little beautiful thing.</p><p>As you might have understood I never make it easy for myself and this time I might have gone way over the top, but I chose to record a cover, my own version of a song from my absolute favourite band and from my absolute favourite and my all time most influential and important album - so no pressure here - the song I’m talking about is “Total Eclipse” (a B-side to Run To The Hills, but was supposed to be on, and should have and later also was added to, the album “The Number Of The Beast”). Above all I didn’t want to make a version similar to the original but make my own version of the song, change some of its character. I mean, what would be the point of trying to make a copy of the original, which would be destined to totally fail anyway? Certainly the hardest thing I’ve ever done, on many levels but mainly reproducing/rearranging a, according to me, perfect song and also performing it. Anyway, I hope you’ll enjoy my humble celebration and tribute to the best band and album in the world.</p><p></p><div style="text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAoJUeugsOzltSfye62F8ZUnC-tsZ9pYh4PheMG3HT0SNSQtoKwKvsSbcYjydH_P6W5AGppZab8J7qOgXIRvDE33kd7m7_ePLfRSpUH3qw7BhmRho5wenMRcxDNMZooRvhODFSXec1aKklPmrMgzk0assqIS8U39pPIpG4iqXEMtEovlTUYiySOBHY/s2915/15182AEC-FBFC-4990-8CBD-45C965915A97.JPG" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="PM Saari" border="0" data-original-height="2690" data-original-width="2915" height="184" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAoJUeugsOzltSfye62F8ZUnC-tsZ9pYh4PheMG3HT0SNSQtoKwKvsSbcYjydH_P6W5AGppZab8J7qOgXIRvDE33kd7m7_ePLfRSpUH3qw7BhmRho5wenMRcxDNMZooRvhODFSXec1aKklPmrMgzk0assqIS8U39pPIpG4iqXEMtEovlTUYiySOBHY/w200-h184/15182AEC-FBFC-4990-8CBD-45C965915A97.JPG" title="PM Saari" width="200" /></a></div><div><br /></div>All the songs are recorded, arranged, produced and mixed by me. All artwork and visual design is made by me and as you might have noticed this whole EP is somewhat paying homage to the legacy of my former band Burnitude.<p></p><p>I put loads of time and energy into trying to get everything as I wanted on this release, even more than before, trying to get that 1970-80’s feeling with digital in the box recording and mixing and I believe I pushed my abilities and my chops in all areas even further with this one.</p><p>You'll find it everywhere on Friday 29th, some direct links are found at my new official portal at: <a href="https://www.saari.net">https://www.saari.net</a> .</p><p><br />Enjoy.<br />/ PM</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><div><br /></div>PM Saarihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03703360934622421909noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1995642556554531862.post-81777575214814928562022-01-11T18:58:00.052+01:002022-01-12T18:23:07.017+01:00Finishing new stuff, starting new stuff<p></p><table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEggMCbxAK2KKfK6CIeILm-fNE5kLEdOaOP8vgpbcsyTPbHL2FqYNLiyozla2CmV1KKT0tazfDX9vH-2-cQujOEyQljwQS0liotAlD9UPwKYvoBpRnIWA7Ok6VP1NsQR270txfH7VtPPGpgB58YgM2-1yzJNcRdOiPiGZmkl5RkeSWZYywNbWUM9s3Cr=s3402" style="clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="3402" height="285" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEggMCbxAK2KKfK6CIeILm-fNE5kLEdOaOP8vgpbcsyTPbHL2FqYNLiyozla2CmV1KKT0tazfDX9vH-2-cQujOEyQljwQS0liotAlD9UPwKYvoBpRnIWA7Ok6VP1NsQR270txfH7VtPPGpgB58YgM2-1yzJNcRdOiPiGZmkl5RkeSWZYywNbWUM9s3Cr=w320-h285" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Me twisting and turning some drums.</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><div>So quite a gap between posts here, even to be me, but though I’ve been working with my music quite a bit I haven’t really finished anything, so not that much to report here. It features the songs “Down” and “Closing Another Chapter” which are more classic rock; me stepping away from the traditional hard rock/heavy metal that I usually deliver. Arrangement- and production-wise the songs were supposed to be super clean and straightforward, thought I’d for once go for less is more, but since I’m more of a “more is more” kind of guy and after all the time I spent with the songs in the studio it was destined to fail and they ended up with quite a bit going on in them. Nevertheless I’m very content with the outcome.<p></p><p>The drums are performed by Ralph Rydén and the fretless bass by Andreas Mallander, and I handled the rest - the guitars, vocals, percussion, the producing, engineering, mixing and the artwork, the mastering was done through Abbey Road Red/CloudBounce. The music and lyrics are written by me and despite the songs leaning towards a melower spectrum the lyrics, where I’m ventilating reflections and thoughts of darker states and times in life, turned out pretty dark. First I felt that the lyrics turned out too open, naked, but realised that I probably felt that because of the arrangement and production and not really what the songs were about, that it wasn’t like usually covered in and dug down by massive overdrive guitar madness, the production was more naked than I am used to.</p><p>This is the first time that I feel that I’m really beginning to get the mixing a bit where I want it, hitting a bit more where I’m aiming; I believe I’m slowly starting to learn the art of mixing a little bit. I really enjoyed doing this a bit different thing and both performance- and mixing-wise stepping away from the hard rock/heavy metal world which floats through my veins and it was all fun and easy to record and mix. I had no expectations so there was no pressure at all, and now I’m talking about the worst kind of pressure: the one from yourself. There were no boundaries and no rules, not that I really have that with my ordinary hard rock/heavy metal stuff either but that sits so deep in my influence, it's in my DNA, so I’m unconsciously following some unwritten holy rules. This made me realise that this is one thing that normally makes the process of recording and mixing pretty hard and tough, but here I wrote a song and recorded it and it could go literally anywhere, and it’s allowed to do that, it made me feel totally free, liberating. </p><p>And yes, I do believe these songs differ quite a bit from what I’ve been doing so far, in more than one way, but still the fact and the bottom line is that it’s all music to me, I just write what comes out and record it, to me it’s all Rock'n'Roll. My next release which I’m working on as we speak, will be in the traditional vein of my hard rock/heavy metal heritage, though this time maybe not as progressive as the earlier stuff, but my future releases will be taking different turns and directions, it will evolve.</p><p><br /></p><p>“Down Another Chapter” is out now and you'll find it digitally at all the 21st century music providers, here follows some with direct links:</p><p>Spotify: <a href="https://open.spotify.com/album/08BMZCtpTRj6S1VZA8qpBf?si=O-EYkLc8RhW2VDFD6Mn_lg">https://open.spotify.com/album/08BMZCtpTRj6S1VZA8qpBf?si=O-EYkLc8RhW2VDFD6Mn_lg</a></p><p>Apple Music: <a href="https://music.apple.com/se/album/down-another-chapter-single/1556125490">https://music.apple.com/se/album/down-another-chapter-single/1556125490</a></p><div>Amazon: <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Closing-Another-Chapter/dp/B08XT8LYLY">https://www.amazon.com/Closing-Another-Chapter/dp/B08XT8LYLY</a></div><p>Tidal: <a href="https://store.tidal.com/se/album/175523372">https://store.tidal.com/se/album/175523372</a></p><p>Napster: <a href="https://gb.napster.com/artist/pm-saari/album/down-another-chapter">https://gb.napster.com/artist/pm-saari/album/down-another-chapter</a></p><p><br />Enjoy.<br />/ PM</p><p><br /></p><p><iframe allow="encrypted-media" allowtransparency="true" frameborder="0" height="170" src="https://open.spotify.com/embed/album/08BMZCtpTRj6S1VZA8qpBf" width="300"></iframe></p>

I’ve been thinking about it for years now but never really had the opportunity or the time to dig into it and finish it. I’ve always thought that the recordings that we did between 2007-2012 were too good not to be released properly, that they didn’t get the attention and treatment they deserved. But now was the perfect timing for me to dive into it and finish the editing, compiling and mix the songs for a first release. I decided to go with the first songs I ever wrote for Inagone, aslo being the first songs that we recorded, “Where It Begins” and “Look and You’ll Find” and I also added the stripped down song called “Unclose” featuring only vocals and acoustic guitars and yeah, they are out now as a three-song single called “Where It Begins”. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiugAPOn7BtnNjjGWyIT2Dol8J4XaW_u9V0OSfzS9oQWDfMEStwGG6-YLQIZdelhUUEGM2BFKypgvEW9JerZU1RCK3jZ1v7nykOY1OrkO-9ret7qWrC4XVx5Nofs4yXmuo-IgRFzAuD-xY/s2048/Inagone-whereitbegins2020.jpg" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="249" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiugAPOn7BtnNjjGWyIT2Dol8J4XaW_u9V0OSfzS9oQWDfMEStwGG6-YLQIZdelhUUEGM2BFKypgvEW9JerZU1RCK3jZ1v7nykOY1OrkO-9ret7qWrC4XVx5Nofs4yXmuo-IgRFzAuD-xY/w249-h249/Inagone-whereitbegins2020.jpg" width="249" /></a></div>It was recorded 13 years ago by me and I mixed it now in October 2020, all music and lyrics are written by me, I produced it and perform all the guitars and also some backing vocals, Per Linzander performs all the lead vocals and some backing vocals, Andreas Mallander the bass (on this recording actually fretted bass) and Vesa Kallio the drums - So the Inagone line-up, the only one there ever was. It was truly exciting to mix what we recorded 12-13 years ago and come to realisation that what we did was even better than I remembered it to be and I really really love our performances on these songs, we had such great chemistry and balance going on and I think it really shines through in this recording. “Where It Begins” is out now and you’ll find it at all the digital music providers. <p><br /></p><p>Aside from that I’m right now working in the studio mixing my next PM Saari release, which will be a bit different two-song single, and slate to be out in the beginning of 2021. I'm also preparing to start recording bass and guitars for the release after that. Due to the total absence of live dates we’ve also taken the opportunity to have some fun down in the Bunker (out rehearsal studio that is, also called the “Red Room”), jamming through some interesting covers, some of them pretty tricky to nail (at least for me), some more or less impossible (at least for me). Mainly for the fun, but also to challenge ourselves and we’ll see, we might just run through some of them in front of a video camera later on and throw them out just for the hell of it. We’re not that comfortable in front of a camera, I mean we belong live on stage, but we’ll see if we can pull ourselves together.</p><p>Anyway, it feels great to be moving through all the obstacles at an acceptable pace forward, just hoping it will last. Taking a deep breath and a hopeful step over to 2021.</p>

It’s a two-song single called “Between” that was originally meant to be a “mini-<i>between</i>-release” <i>between</i> my first album “The Opening” and its followup full length album “The Awakening”, hence the title (mainly, of course among other references) but “The Awakening” has been postponed, pushed into the future and other releases will be finished and put out before it. However "Between" will still be a release<i> between</i> releases so.</p><p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxdKQd1gusZVBWduyLko8Iq_Pp_E30ZAjtK6sEmW4YkJ3eHJlwTyQi-PBEmWJpRAGAWJmE9CWRYJaI7y0_L3qlBC21wAyPRo47zOsxajoIZaJzYe8GxuNNQLbMm8Ws4LoAnx_JLISTj7s/s2048/PMSaari-Between+%2528smaller+file%2529.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img alt="PM Saari "Between"" border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxdKQd1gusZVBWduyLko8Iq_Pp_E30ZAjtK6sEmW4YkJ3eHJlwTyQi-PBEmWJpRAGAWJmE9CWRYJaI7y0_L3qlBC21wAyPRo47zOsxajoIZaJzYe8GxuNNQLbMm8Ws4LoAnx_JLISTj7s/w200-h200/PMSaari-Between+%2528smaller+file%2529.jpg" width="200" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Artwork and design by PM Saari.<br /></td></tr></tbody></table>I’d say it’s pretty much in the “The Opening”-vein, melodic and progressive hard rock/classic heavy metal (?) and consists of the heavier “Between Seasons” and the faster “Burning Air”, both songs written and arranged by me. It’s produced and mixed by me, recorded and mixed at my Beyond Dimensions Studio and mastered at Abbey Road Red/CloudBounce. The mixing and mastering is somewhat experimental and it's most likely to be followed by a remix/remastering in a not too distant future. All guitars, vocals and percussion are performed by me and the fretless bass by Andreas “Drake” Mallander and the drums by Patrik Idman, so my current power-trio live band. When it comes to my performance on this one I can assure you that I’ve really outdone and pushed myself when it comes to vocals and guitar, and yeah, you'll even find some bongo drums and maracas performed by me in the middle section of "Between Seasons"(!). I put a lot of effort in the arrangements and production as well, so a lot of hard work to get things where I wanted them, and as I see it I didn’t have a choice, the songs demanded it.<p></p><p>You’ll find Between digitally at your digital music provider of choice, a handful of them directly linked here below, and there was originally plans to release it on vinyl, but due to the situation in the world now and the absence of live gigs, that plan is somewhat off, depending where thing's are heading.</p><p><br />Spotify: <a href="https://open.spotify.com/album/2gh9STq6BTXF6wyzOZUZuB?si=NfCUwLlbRIyBsKla0Hh3eg">https://open.spotify.com/album/2gh9STq6BTXF6wyzOZUZuB?si=NfCUwLlbRIyBsKla0Hh3eg</a></p><p>Napster: <a href="https://gb.napster.com/artist/pm-saari/album/between">https://gb.napster.com/artist/pm-saari/album/between</a></p><p>Apple Music: <a href="https://music.apple.com/se/album/between-single/1537428397">https://music.apple.com/se/album/between-single/1537428397</a></p><p>Tidal: <a href="https://store.tidal.com/se/album/160405709">https://store.tidal.com/se/album/160405709</a></p><p>Amazon Music: <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Between-PM-Saari/dp/B08LXXHX6R/ref=sr_1_23?dchild=1&keywords=PM+Saari&qid=1605248778&s=dmusic&search-type=ss&sr=1-23">https://www.amazon.com/Between-PM-Saari/dp/B08LXXHX6R/ref=sr_1_23?dchild=1&keywords=PM+Saari&qid=1605248778&s=dmusic&search-type=ss&sr=1-23</a></p><p>Feel free to share the links and spread it to support me. So here we are, thought I would post this some months ago but as we all know things have been happening turning the world a bit around and upside down lately. (Even though I must admit that it feels a bit like I'm using this as an excuse for my absence here.) The collaboration plans we had getting out playing live in the end of 2019 backfired so there were no live dates at all and then Da Rona hit when we were supposed to get out the next round. So plans had to change and we went into total recording and rehearsal mode instead.<br />
<br />
So I’ve been rehearsing with Mr Mallander and Mr Idman, the PM Saari Band that is, and it’s been real great getting down to the bunker as often as our tight-scheduled life allows and letting the creativity flow out in its purest form, at the same time uniting, tightening us as a band and having a great time. We’ve put in quite a bunch of new tunes into the live set, even though they’re not released yet, and we can’t wait to get back live on stage with it all (whenever that will be). We’ve also been jamming a bit with various covers lately, so we’ll see what might come out of that.<br />
<br />

I can also, finally, confirm that the recording of the vocals (and everything else since many, many months back) of the first upcoming release, a two-song EP that will be called “Between”, is finally finished and it’s now off to be mixed. It will be released after summer and I can assure you that it sounds killer even pre mix - two Saari-style heavy metal/hard rock songs with strong melodies woven together with progressive elements and exciting arrangements. The second release, which also is a two-song EP, is almost done recording wise and its release will follow just months after the first. We’ve also, as times are as they are, started the recording of yet another EP that will be released before the next full length album, “The Awakening”. So there are three EP’s on the way, and note that they will not feature any songs that will be on “The Awakening”.<br />

The good thing is that this has forced me to start really digging in and working with my voice and vocals. Also realising now that it was pretty unfortunate that the vocals on the two songs on “Between”, the first release out, was for me the most difficult, hardest and most demanding that I’ve ever written, but I pushed myself way beyond what I thought was possible and there they are. I’ve also never ever before worked as deep and intensively (fanatically?) with the production and arrangements as have done on these two songs on “Between”, so I'm really excited to get it mixed and out.<br />
<br />
So despite it all I’ve been working with music, quite a lot, and hopefully I'll get up the pace getting music out to you more frequently very soon as well, both recorded releases and live shows.<br />

Well I was hoping to announce a finished release, or even two, maybe even a release-date, in my next news post but we’re not quite there yet. We’ve been working with the two upcoming EP’s and the full-length album, “The Awakening”, in parallel but the first release out will be a two-song EP called “Between” and it is very close to done when it comes to the recording.<br />
<br />
So far this round there has been quite a lot of experimenting, tryings, rerecording and rearranging in the studio, more than ever, both with the vocals, the guitars, the drums and even with the bass. Loads of time has been spent on this and on various small details to get the <i>right</i> final result (whatever that may be). I’ve definitely pushed the boundaries of my guitar playing and vocals way, way beyond and harder than ever before. I guess this is what easily happens when you don’t have a deadline, but hopefully it all leads to a better, a more perfect result in the end.<br />
<br />
None of the songs on the EP’s will be on “The Awakening” so being an album-dude there’s the pressure and anguish of not releasing an full-length album but having only two songs carrying the weight of the release, with the focus much more centered, instead of normally, on an album that is, shared by some 10-15 songs. It will have to take its time, but we're getting there.<br />
<br />

We’ve finally got our premiere live date for Järntrean ("Iron Three" in Swedish), also Fe3, where we run through songs from the first two Iron Maiden albums as a 3-piece power trio, booked and confirmed. It will take place in hometown Stockholm at Club Probation at Snövit (Ringvägen 147) this Saturday (October 5th). I’ve got my side-kick Andreas Mallander with me on fretless (!) bass and my long time friend Jan Viberg behind the drums. Feels really great to get that train rolling, it’s a project very dear to us and very close to our hearts.<br />
<br />
Discussions about the whens, wheres and hows, and possible collaborations, when it comes to PM Saari Band live are being held as we speak, pretty exciting things in the planning but we’ll have to wait and see what comes of that. Besides this, I will do my utmost to keep myself down in the studio working with the music as much as is possibly possible and not to let myself be affected by the distractions, both good and bad, that life constantly seems to be throwing at me to keep me from it.<br />

Last Saturday we finished up our round of spring live dates in Ludvika at Open Stage Grand Finale Festival. Awesome way to round it all up, at this beautiful venue with the outdoor stage right by the water, add perfect sunny weather and that we did one of our best performances to date. It was really great taking the material live on stage and put it through the three-piece live jam machinery for a couple of gigs. Had a super-blast doing our little round with our friends in Blackribbon in the beginning of May, I go way back with every band member of the band that is led by my brother and pre 13 Chaos St side-kick and vocalist Jari. Loads of fun, as it was on our other live dates as well.<br />
<br />
We’ve now, finally, reached our gig number 12 with the PM Saari Band and got the live performance, the jams and the chops pretty much where we want it. According to the original plan we were supposed to be here a year ago, but sometimes things takes time, and sometimes one’s just got to let things take its time.<br />

<br />
Next thing the focus will be on recovering my pretty beaten voice for a couple of days to be able to start recording vocals. I was supposed to do that in between the live dates but that was impossible since I pretty much wore my voice out every turn on the road. The thing is that it's not the singing but the talking that wears your voice out and when we were out I talked constantly 24/7. I guess that's what happens when you're out on the road with your best pals in your band, and add the dates with your best pals in the other band you're out with. Great times, loads of fun and impossible to shut up, but paying for it now.<br />
<br />
Then I suppose the lack of sleep the last month, or three, probably has taken its toll on my voice as well. Was five days hanging with former Lizard Eye drummer Ralph Rydén and some friends down at the Sweden Rock Festival two weeks ago and the fact that I became a father for the third time a month ago, a new baby at home doesn’t exactly add to your sleeping hours. But it’s all cool, realising that I’m starting to get a little bit of hang of the singing and vocal things, like the last gig worked pretty well vocal-wise despite a cold and a pretty badly beaten throat and voice.<br />
<br />

<br />
'But now I’ll give my voice some rest for a couple of days, or whatever it takes, before starting to record my vocals and get some new stuff finished and then out. Need to have some level of clarity in my voice to nail the vocal tracks. After summer, or at the end of it, we’ll be back with a whole new setlist, including new songs, and we have some new real exciting live plans in the planning, and then all the releases that are being recorded.<br />

The recording goes in its own pace, living its own life, developing and forming into shape. There’s a lot of experimenting going on, I’ve probably never tried out, worked and reworked my rhythm guitars to this degree before. Usually it works better for me to do things quick, just a very few takes, whatever comes out gets down because otherwise everything tends to get overdone very easily. But this round I felt that I really had the chance and the time, and felt that the material deserved (demanded?) it, so I just went for it and it turned our really, really well. I’ve also been experimenting a lot with arrangements on these songs, which I always do though, but maybe even a little bit more, and also with other instruments like percussion for instance. It’ll be exciting to see what comes out of it.<br />
<br />
Besides the drums the bass and rhythm guitars are also now recorded for the first two upcoming releases, two EPs that is, and I’m about to start recording the vocals and lead guitars for the first one, which will be titled "Between", and will feature my live rhythm section, Andreas “Drake” Mallander on fretless bass and Patrick Idman on drums.<br />

Unfortunately not working that much with music. However we have finished the recording of the drums for the upcoming releases and yes, releases in plural because there will most likely be two EP’s and then the full length album, “The Awakening”, this simply due to the fact that I have so much material I want to get out. Since it is now a fact, there will be three or four different drummers on the records, depending on which songs will finally make it.<br />
<br />
I’ve also been having some health issues that has affected my singing the past couple of months. This have slowed things down a bit, but I believe that’s all fixed now and am now continuing working on my vocals. I’ve also, again, physically moved my studio and the Saari Headquarters which has taken it’s time but I’m now setled and ready to work with some music and dive into the huge to-be-recorded-bin and start hammering down some guitar tracks.<br />

It’s a pretty hard task and hard work getting it all there, getting the right balance between the ingredients we want in there. Not only do we need to manage playing the pretty demanding material as a three-piece, but also playing it with the right feeling and attitude and with all the improvisation going on, which requires quite a bit, especially in the fast songs where there’s really no time at all to think. So we really have to work up our chops and we’re not ready to compromise on any part, Though it feels like it has taken a bit longer to get where we are today than was originally planned, that’s the way life is for us right now and the main thing is that we’re here now and that we’re getting there.<br />
<br />
Here’s some video live takes from some of the past live shows, pretty unpolished and obviously with some tweaking left, but yeah, we’re getting there:<br />

</tbody></table>
I have started the recording of my album #2 and the drums for about half of it are recorded by now. A lot of things about it hasn’t been decided yet, so lots of things still floating in the air, but there will be a full-length album, probably out next year and it will be called “The Awakening”, that is certain. I’ve come to realize that it won’t be as much a progressive album as I thought it would but more of a classic heavy metal/hard rock album. I’ve also realized that it’s all pretty strong material, lots of cool riffs, tasteful vocal melodies, ingenious lyrics and exiting arrangements, many of the songs probably the best I’ve ever written.<br />
<br />
I’m also done tuning in the guitar sounds (or are we really ever?) for it and have started recording and arranging the guitars for the first four songs. On these particular songs we’ll be recording the rhythm guitars before the bass for the first time ever. As I’ve mentioned before there will be some guests on the album, but the main part of it will feature my live rhythm section, the PM Saari Band: Andreas Mallander on fretless bass and Patrik Idman on drums. Production- and arranging-wise I think I will go with the flow and have a more song-oriented approach to the material. Off course there will be progressive and virtuous elements, which is inevitable when we do things, more on some songs than others, but the <i>songs</i> will lead and steer this album. So still a long way to go, but the machine is rolling and when there, I believe that it will kill.<br />
<div>
<br />
<br /></div>
Other from the work on the album we’re doing some live shows with PM Saari Band starting July 28th at Rock På Torget in Smedjebacken and we’ve also been throwing in some rehearsals with Järntrean so we’ll see what will come out of that.<br />
<br />
I can also reveal now that sometimes after summer we’ll be releasing an Inagone (!) EP featuring three songs that I’m (re-)mixing as we speak. So no new material, but I felt that those old tunes deserves to be more in the spotlight, of which they were a bit robbed at the time, the Inagone recordings never really got the chance they deserved.<br />
<br />
<br />
And when it comes to The Opening, the album I needed to do, the album that needed to be done, it has been out about one and a half year by now and I’d really need your support with it on Spotify, help to push it forward, to make a path for The Awakening. So please, please take a couple of seconds to follow, share, like and whatever it is you do on Spotify, and also of course listen to it and it’s songs, I need all the push I can possibly get and would be forever grateful.<br />

<b>THE GUITARS</b><br />
<br />
A huge part of me and what I do is my gear, the equipment through which my art is delivered. I mean at the end of the day it’s what brings out what’s happening in my mind, or soul if you will, transporting it into the real world and making it perceptible for others. I really need my instruments and equipment to feel just right to be comfortable, to be able to deliver 100%, and it's even gotten me so that the gear itself inspires me and pushes me on. So I thought I'll write some lines about it and let’s start with the most important thing, the guitars.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My favourite Gibson's, two reissue<br />
Flying V's and a 1977 The Paul. </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I would say that Ibanez is the guitars that started it all for me, and I still have my two first Roadstar's left, by now very modified, or Saari:fied, and highly worn out and retired (Check out Saari History Part I for more on my early days equipment at: <a href="http://pmsaari.blogspot.se/2015/03/saari-history-part-i.html">http://pmsaari.blogspot.se/2015/03/saari-history-part-i.html</a>) and today my main acoustic guitars are Ibanez. I then moved on to Gibson’s, mainly my Flying V’s, especially my dear Flying V ‘58/’98 Limited Edition reissue, one of my absolute favourite guitars, looks awesome and it plays like a dream. As for my Gibson’s, besides the V’s I used some The Paul's and The Paul II's pretty much as well. All my Gibson's are equipped with DiMarzio Norton humbucker at the bridge and either DiMarzio Paf or Air Norton at the neck, these pickups sound absolutely amazing in these guitars, especially in the Flying V’s.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Three of my main ESP Ltd Saari<br />
Custom Viper's based on the 400.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
In 2006 I got my hands on my first ESP Ltd Viper, a Vintage Sunburst Viper-400 with Seymour Duncan Custom 5 humbucker at the bridge and a Jazz at the neck, that I named "The Poe", and I was totally hooked and been so ever since. With it I did what I’ve been doing ever since with ALL my guitars: rewiring them to have two volume pots, one for each humbucker, and remove the tone control (-s). On the Vipers I also move the front strap button so it’s facing forward as on a Strat. I file a platform in the middle of the very pointy top over the upper cut where I screw the strap button. Pretty tricky, but I’ve done it enough times by now and it really, really makes the guitar hang in the absolute perfect position for me. So my Saari:fied Ltd Viper 400's and 1000's with the Seymour Duncan humbuckers mentioned above is pretty much what I play today.<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My Gibson The Paul II <br />
hand-painted by me.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Lately I've added some other guitars to the arsenal, like the Charvel Charvel Pro Mod So Cal Style1 with maple fretboard and floating Floyd Rose locking tremolo and Seymour Duncan humbuckers, which I like a lot and which was sort of my homage to huge influences like Adrian Smith and also Van Halen and other whammy-bar players, kind of where I started. Also some various ESP Ltd guitars that are not Vipers, like my beautiful and amazing Silver Sparkle EC-1000 Deluxe for instance.<br />
<br />
I play pretty much steel string acoustic guitar and most of the songs I’ve ever written are written on one, even all the heaviest metal tunes. I believe that a good song should work with just the vocals and an acoustic guitar or a piano, that a riff should work on an acoustic guitar if it’s worth keeping. I have some Washburn and Ibanez steel string acoustics but my main acoustic guitar now is my Ibanez Artwood 250 ECE-RTB.<br />
<br />
As you notice I’m not that into very expensive guitars nor am I not into old, used or vintage guitars, or other gear. I like new gear, I want to be the one wearing them out. That’s why I rather go for a reissue version rather than getting a many years old, worn original if possible. I love to occasionally run through and jam on some old Strat's and Les Paul’s or whatever if the opportunity is given, but that’s enough for me, I’ve never gotten more feeling out of a vintage instrument than a new one. The The Paul I's and II's are the only ones of the guitars I have now that I bought used, and this simply because they weren't made anymore and there were no reissues.<br />
<br />
Though I’ve been pretty faithful to a handful of brands through the years I’ve never found myself comfortable with an exclusive endorsement. I’ve always felt I needed to be free to experiment, to be free to be free, totally unbound, and have therefore chosen to finance my equipment in other ways through the years.<br />
<br />
<br />
<b>THE AMPS AND CABS</b><br />
<br />
Been running through many various Marshall cabinets through the years, and pretty many Marshall heads as well, too many for me to remember and in contrary to the guitars many of them older used ones. In mid 1990's I used my Crate Blue VooDoo 60 head a lot through some years and that amp is so totally worn out and beaten, but I still have it and I also still have some Marshall JCM 800 heads and 4x12 Marshall cabinets. I’ve always been into the sound of tube amplifiers, I always thought that they keep my tone alive and brings it out in its purest form. But then I also always preferred it simple, easy, smooth and flexible. And when I started playing more live and record in many different places tube-heads, 4x12” cabinets and tons of cables and pedals aren’t that at all.<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Some of my live POD's.<br />
I only use the XT and the HD.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
In 1998 it happened, Line 6 POD (1.0 that is) happened and I’ve been running through various Line 6 multi effects/simulators/preamps ever since, I think I own every POD ever released. (Some more on that in Saari History Part II: <a href="http://pmsaari.blogspot.se/2016/04/saari-history-part-ii.html">http://pmsaari.blogspot.se/2016/04/saari-history-part-ii.html</a>.) I also need my gear to be reliable to be able to concentrate on the performance and I’m very, very rough with my instruments and gear, so they have to endure pretty much beating and these Line 6 products have never failed on me.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My Spider Valve<br />
MkII HD100.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
My dream was <i>one</i> cable from the guitar to an amplifier, I don’t use wireless, and one not too big floorboard with a wah-pedal, <i>one</i> unit, that is connected to the rig with <i>one</i> cable only and needs no power supply. So the Line 6 POD and the FBV Express MKII floorboard was, and still is, like a dream come true for me. For many years I used a Line 6 Spider Valve MkII HD100 live, one cable from the guitar and one from the FBV Express and it sounded really great, a bit buggy which never got fixed since Line 6 stopped updating the firmware when they stopped manufacturing it. Then after some tube problems and getting them changed a couple of times it was never the same again and was put into retirement (at least temporarily). The idea was great, best of both worlds, tubes and digital, but it feels like a half-completed product, a prototype. The first years of my POD-period I used to run the POD into an old Marshall head's return using it's power amp getting an awesome guitar sound, but tubes aren't that reliable and I got fed up with their instability, the tubes living their own life, having good days and bad days, came to a point when they didn't charm me anymore and it wasn't worth the time and all the trouble.<br />

I’ve spent a lot of time the last months, once again, on my guitar sound and rigg and considered upgrading to Helix or Kemper but they didn’t really offer me anything that the old PODs didn’t, on the contrary, the POD and the FBV Express are way more flexible, takes much less space and weight, I can even fly with the desk version of POD and the floorboard as hand luggage. So for live I’m now running a Line 6 POD Pro, the the XT or HD, through a Rocktron Velocity 300 power amp and that through my Saari Custom cabinets armed with Celestion 12” Vintage 30 elements. You need to put many, many hours into tuning knobs on the POD's and understand them but when there you can get them to sound awesome and the rig is simple, easy, smooth and flexible, and it’s reliable, and mainly, it makes me want to continue doing this.PM Saarihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03703360934622421909noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1995642556554531862.post-57014415373314150952017-12-16T09:42:00.000+01:002017-12-23T08:44:21.685+01:00Moving out, moving in<b><br /></b><b>Official statement from PM Saari regarding Lizard Eye:</b><br />

I wish the band, my brothers, nothing but the best, whatever they decide to do following my departure. A massive thanks to Lasse and the other banfd members, both past and present, and all the Lizard Eye fans for all the great times, of which there have been so many. <br />
Besides our constant disturbance factor with he solo band, the race against time, we’ve been struggling with some issues that has made us postpone everything PM Saari Band the past year. It was all set off by some beyond our control canceled shows in the beginning of 2017, forcing everything out of phase and schedule. It however looks like we’re back on track now with our first live dates booked for 2018, both in our hometown Stockholm, on Friday January 5th we’re playing at Copperfields and on Sarurday February 24th at Medusa Bar in Old Town of Stockholm and hopefully more live dates will follow shortly.<br />

The recording of my sophomore album, which will be called “The Awakening”, will start any day now, well probably after the holidays, and I will allow and dedicate whole 2018 for it to be finished, but we’ll see about that, with no deadline it’s always +/-. This time it will feature pretty strong songs, I’ve been working with the songs more into depth than earlier to suck out the best out of them. I’ve been rewriting some vocal parts and some lyrics here now, and put some even further work on the pre-production, just to push the quality up just a little bit more, and the songs have really turned out way better that I could hope for and I see that there will not be at all that many instrumental songs this time. There will be some guest-performance involved this time as well, so it might end up a pretty cool album. Looking forward to (or being scared to death of?) recording it. I have pretty much material written and demoed and am definitely NOT going for a double album, so I wouldn’t be surprised if there will be a smaller release, some sort of EP, before or (/and?!) after to the album lands, but we’ll see.<br />
<br />
As always there are some other fuzzy plans for a handful of on-the-side or “off”-recordings in the horizon, if the time is given, and also some live dates as well, that with Järntrean (Fe2) and maybe some other various loose project (-s). We’ll just have to wait and see if the stars will align and if there, as always, will be time.<br />
<br />
May you have the best of, and safe (felt uncomfortable, but felt I needed to put that word there in times like these), holidays and change of years.<br />
And as always, RnR.<br />

In 1998 in the ashes of Risky Riot splitting up Mats Brodd (Risky Riot vocalist) and I decided <br />
to start a new band, a bit more kick-ass and punky, more sleaze and less progressive. Burnitude was born, or Burner as the band was called in the beginning, but after receiving legal threats from a lawyer of another band called Burner I came up with the way more original Burnitude - “The eternal burning flame of ambition and love for what we do and our main ingredient in doing it, attitude!”.<br />

<br />
We recorded some demos/singles with Jan Viberg on the drums but in 2000 Matte left, he moved out of town, way up north to live another life. I thought that the foundation we had was too good to let go and decided to carry on with it as a three-piece band, handling the vocals myself, which was a first for me. Soon I met and hooked up with, what became my brother from another mother, whom I came to share many bands, projects and the stage with for so many years to follow. A little bit later we were joined by Mats Öström (Moey) who was a perfect fit to handle the bass, perfectly harmonising and balancing up my and Vesa’s virtuous, progressive styles and keep it all down to earth. I wrote loads and loads of Burnitude songs, giving more room for two of my greatest influences, Shotgun Messiah and The Hellacopters, that hadn’t quite got though in my music that much earlier, and we released a handfull of underground releases and did countless of gigs through the following six, seven years or so.<br />

I’ve never really listened to music in Swedish before - at least not since I was six or seven when I was totally hooked in Björn Skifs in the end of the 70’s. Inspired by Thåström I got deeper into writing lyrics in Swedish and was surprised how great they turned out and how much easier it was for me to write in my native language.<br />
<br />
I’ve always written lots of lyrics, I love lyrics. Many might not know it but like in Lizard Eye for instance, I wrote most of the lyrics, I wrote way more lyrics that I wrote riffs in that band. Anyway, I thought I couldn’t really put songs with Swedish lyrics in my current bands and project so I did what I always did, I started a new band/project and named it “Under” (the, pretty cool, Swedish word that is, meaning: marvel, under, during, beneath, below etc). I recorded some songs with, again Jan Viberg on the drums, and me handling the rest, and I went for Maiden style twin guitars. I liked to describe it as a mix between early Iron Maiden and Thåström. Vesa and I also started working on a second release, a full-length concept album actually, but we never had the time or opportunity to finish it. We never played live, which is pretty unfortunate since it was really great songs and a pretty cool a very well suited style.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3_Grf5-_PW-YrXcNVt7MCK-mZ9w0-WZMweh3FjgPcNgmi8DQijqvhIpvF3N1FtEQnhnkxCyMAy-AzNdacij7ywwBt8ytCKZXc4qigZ3MmhSVh74DXEXv8SjO6SybucNhkm7z1WtZtZFM/s1600/tack.gif" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="190" data-original-width="110" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3_Grf5-_PW-YrXcNVt7MCK-mZ9w0-WZMweh3FjgPcNgmi8DQijqvhIpvF3N1FtEQnhnkxCyMAy-AzNdacij7ywwBt8ytCKZXc4qigZ3MmhSVh74DXEXv8SjO6SybucNhkm7z1WtZtZFM/s1600/tack.gif" /></a><br />
These two bands/project were very important parts the process of moulding me into what I became as a musician. Those are the very foundation of what I’m doing today and will do in the future. In 2017 I made the tough decision to put both Burnitude and Under down, none of them having been active for about a decade anyway. It was time to move on and I would be implementing the unrecorded Burnitude and Under material into future solo releases, released under the PM Saari flag.<br />

I’ve always been very particular with not mixing different styles in my various bands and projects. I always wanted to keep them apart and rather start a new one than try to implement the material if I didn’t found it fitting style-wise. I love bands like Queen and Kiss, but I couldn't see myself mixing, what I, in my mind, considered different styles under the same banner, not to speak on the same album. Since I write different styles of hard rock/heavy metal/rock this led me to having <i>lots</i> of different bands and projects going on, and which of many actually were pretty much the same. Like a close friend of mine used to say about me and this: “The one with the most bands when he dies wins.” and I can assure you, I would have won, if not...<br />

</tbody></table>
The other day when I was listening to one of my biggest influences and heroes, David Bowie, it came up to me that not many of his albums sound at all the same, at all. He changed all the time, and I love it. Then Drake (my bass player Andreas Mallander), who knows how much material I have laying around and waiting to be recorded under various bands/projects, said something like: “Why don’t you just record and put everything out as “PM Saari”, it’s you writing all the songs, and they’re all power trios with you on vocals and guitars, it’s all you anyway?” Some of them obviously has to be their own bands since they are their own bands, but this <i>really</i> made me think. It occurred to me that maybe I have been seeing it all from only one perspective, I hadn't seen the whole picture and to be honest, this lack of time and energy I live in is really starting to get to me. I mean, the more brands I have to try to market and sell, the more work it requires and with this lack of time it all ends half-done instead of putting all power and focus on just one (or at least few). So I realized the time has come to shorten the list of my bands and projects and implement them into my solo stuff and came to the tough decision that it's time to put two of my dear babies down, time to officially disband Burnitude and Under. None of them having been active for about a decade anyway. The legacy of them will live on but this is the end of Burnitude and Under as bands. Time to move on.<br />

<br />
There are however lots of great material, both Burnitude and Under, that never got recorded and released just waiting to get out and I will finish, at least some of it and put it out at some point, in some form, but it won't be under the flag of Burnitude and Under, but under the PM Saari flag. Actually one (pre-) Burnitude song has already sneaked into my solo releases and it's definite that one or two songs has made it into the next PM Saari release fitting as great as the tracks that I intensionally wrote to be there.<br />

It should have been more shows down by now but due to some bad luck with cancelled shows beyond our control (we don’t really deal with “luck” anyway, so...) and various reasons delaying the rehearsals in the beginning of the year, made us sit out some spring dates. But now we’re on the roll and more dates will be booked right after summer. Feels really great to be so close to find what we have been looking for when taking the “The Opening” material into power-trio live-mode. We’ve always wanted it to be improvised jam and kick ass live action when performed live, yet keeping the progressivity of it. Not easy at all, but I really think we’re getting there. And live is what it is all about, isn't it?<br />

Very soon we’ll start booking gigs for Järntrean, or Fe3 if you will, which'll be so much fun. You people can’t even imagine what we’re up to, it’ll be such a punch in the face - and sometimes I'm not sure we ourselves really realize what the H we have given ourselves into, but we LOVE it. Up The Irons!<br />
<br />
Some Lizard Eye shows are down and some more are coming up. Really looking forward to hooking up with the boys for some kick-ass Lizard Eye live action after a summer break.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Any day now we’ll be starting tracking drums for upcoming solo release (releases?), not sure in what format things will be out or when just yet, but I have finished material to well fill an album, and even more so. But I do believe there will be something out before the end of 2017, probably not a full-length album though, it won't land until 2018 by the earliest. But we'll see. Some other studio work is going on but more on that soon.<br />
<br />
Cheers.<br />

We’re just about ready to start booking live dates with the solo band and we're all really excited and looking forward to that. As we speak we're running through a handful of some really exciting and cool covers from which we’ll pick out the coolest ones and have them available to throw into the live set when needed to complement the solo tunes. Loads of fun.<br />
<br />
I’ve finished the writing, arranging and the pre production work of all the songs of my next upcoming solo album that will be called "The Awakening". The next thing is to start to assemble and involve all the different drummers, it looks like there might be quite a few, and decide who will play on which song/songs and then start recording the drums.<br />
<br />
As for the new live project where we'll do our interpretations of songs from the two first Iron Maiden albums as a 3-piece power trio called Järntrean (Fe3), we’ll start the final round of rehearsals in a month and then it’s all ready to take live on stage. Really exciting.<br />

Lizard Eye has finished the rehearsals of the new songs for the upcoming full length album and are going through different options of how it will be recorded, having talks with different engineers and studios. We're also booking some live gigs as we speak which will be announced shortly. Really looking forward to finally get to play the Lizard Eye stuff live again, and with Mr Ralph Rydén back on the drums. Been way too long.<br />
<br />
I also have some other studio works in the plans but due lack of time at the moment I’m not sure when I’ll be able to execute them, but when, and if, they happen, you’ll be the first to know.<br />
<br />
I am so thrilled to finally get to play live again, was way too long ago and I really, really miss performing live on stage. Playing live is, aside maybe writing the music, the whole deal for me to be doing this and as much an improviser as I am, live on stage is where I belong, where I really <i>am, </i>doing my thing, there and then.<br />
<br />
See ya.<br />
